UQ Summer Research Scholarship Project Submission Form

If you are hosting a project at MRI-UQ please do not use this form.

You may register as many projects as you wish. After submitting a project you will have the option to register more. If you register more than one project, you will be asked to prioritise them for the purpose of allocating the limited FoM-UQ Employability budget.

For assistance, email med.researchsummer@uq.edu.au somsmedrummerscholarships@uq.edu.au
Expected workload: Must be between 20 to 36 hours per wk, and 6-10 weeks excluding Christmas-New Year week/s. (only up to 8 weeks will be funded by Employability/Faculty)
Multiple options for Placement: If you want to describe several options for projects in the description above and let students select which one they are interested in, then this box will be included with "1 placement is available for these project options. Applicants should specify which option you are applying for."

If you are only listing one topic, we'll delete this row.

If you want to supervise more than one project, please list them in separate project templates so they can be advertised separately (subject to available funding).
Expected outcomes and deliverables: Please highlight what applicants can expect to gain/learn from participating in the project, and what they will be expected to deliver as an outcome of the project. For example, scholars may gain skills in data collection, or have an opportunity to generate publications from their research.  Students may also be asked to produce a report or oral presentation at the end of their project.
Suitable for: Please highlight any particular qualities that you are looking for in applicants. For example, this project is open to applications from students with a background in chemistry, pre-medical provisional students interested in MD-HDR pathway.

NB: Program is only open to UQ students in 2020-21.
Your answers will allow us to add specific requirements that the scholar will need to meet such as working with children check, Student IP and confidentiality, Vaccine Preventable Disease Screening and student agreement if required.

Students will be paid the scholarship in two payments, the first in December, and the second in late January-February, subject to the Supervisor confirming the student’s satisfactory participation and progress.
Faculty of Medicine anticipates a limited budget to fund 70x 6-8 week scholarships, fully funded by Faculty of Medicine (50%) and UQ Employability (50%). We expect that demand for projects will exceed this budget.

If you have extra funds available, you can have as many extra projects you like if you can fully fund them at $360/wk per scholarship.
